IDS Connect: a cart must retain its context.
Connect trade business software and wholesale shops for item search and cart exchange while retaining references and units.
Read the German originalThe work starts in the trade application
IDS Connect links trade business software to a wholesaler's shop. A business can research items or exchange carts. ITEK describes functions including shop search, item details and cart transfer.
Start with a specific task: an employee searches for materials for a job and returns the selection to their application. Which inputs and references will they need to continue working on the job?
Changed line items must remain identifiable
Quantities, items or commercial terms may change in the shop. On return, the trade application must identify which line item the change belongs to. Otherwise the selection saves typing but creates new cases to clarify.
Test the exchange with an unchanged line item, a changed quantity and a replacement item. Also clarify which functions each partner system actually supports. A general IDS claim does not answer that detailed question.
Define the boundary between connection and ordering
Agree when only a cart is transferred and when an actual order begins. Cancelled sessions and invalid sign-ins should not alter the existing quote. After returning, the user needs to know what was transferred.
A pilot with one wholesale partner creates a verifiable foundation. Other partners still require their own tests of functions and references. For operation, define contacts for both systems and how interface changes will be handled.
